To request permission to reprint copyrighted material, please follow these guidelines:  

Requests to reprint material must be made in writing, either via mail, email, or fax. Submit your request early in the editorial process, as written responses to permission requests take approximately two to four weeks.

Information Required:

Please provide as much information as possible in your request letter. The more information you provide, the quicker we can process your request. If at all possible, please include:

  • The title of the Blackwell Publishing book
  • The author of the Blackwell Publishing book
  • The ISBN of the Blackwell Publishing book
  • The page numbers, chapters, and word count of the copyrighted material you wish to reproduce
  • If you are editing the material, please include a copy of the material as it will appear
  • The working title of your project
  • The author(s)/editor(s) of your project
  • The name of your publisher
  • The approximate sale price of your book or the cost of the journal in which your project will appear
  • The markets/territories in which you intend to promote/distribute your project
  • The total print run
  • The date(s) of publication or intended use
  • If the project is a non-print product, please explain all aspects in detail

When the copyright is held by the author or anyone other than Blackwell Publishing, we are unable to grant permission to reprint. In those cases, please submit a request letter to the person(s) or entity credited for the material.

Fee

The information you provide us (amount of material, print run, territories, etc.) determines the fee charged to reprint copyrighted material. If the project involves a non-profit organization, please include as much information as possible about the organization and the project.
